- An improved formula from the Si Shen Tang (“Four Herbs Soup”), a well-known soup recipe across the Greater China region. Designed with reference to the classical Chinese Medicine formula Four Gentlemen Decoction from the Song Dynasty literature Formulary of the Taiping Imperial Grace Dispensary Bureau.
- Yam is known for its sweet flavour and mild property in Chinese Medicine which contributes to its medicinal properties of supplementing the spleen, nourishing the stomach, boosting qi and generating body fluids.
- The spleen likes dryness and is intolerant of dampness, hence generating dampness when spleen deficiency results in impaired transforming properties. Using Job’s tears seed and Gordon euryale seed, both herbs fortify the spleen and dry dampness to aid in the transforming properties of the spleen.
- Poria fortifies the spleen and eliminates dampness. Lotus seeds have astringent properties which contributes to its spleen supplementing medicinal properties helping to relieve diarrhoea.
